How many people can be honest with themselves and say they really didn’t know the first thing of finance let alone personal finance. I’m raising my hand right now!! The learning curve for me was real. I worked at a bank so I learned the ins outs of fees, overdrafts, ACHs and anything else associated with personal banking. Since we are on the subject lets parlay about this subject.
Overdrafts- the banks bread and butter. You use your debit card, you swipe away like nobody’s business- buy something for less than 5 bucks but get hit with a 36 dollar overdraft fee! Like what in the world?!!
Fees- Theres a fee to have an account, theres a fee to get a cashiers check, theres a fee to cash a check if you don’t bank with them. Theres a fee for overdraft protection. Fees on fees on fees.
The truth of the matter is the banks are not your friends! they solely exist to make funds. Its that simple. Learning to budget and know the system will help you make any bank your biatch! (Pardon my french)
Although I knew lots about the banks, I knew nothing else, all other topics were as foreign to me as speaking German. I had to learn the hard way. I am here to have an open dialogue on topics that are not taught or discuss enough in the homes or schools; with that being said, let’s get it!
